CAF Increases Annual Funding for Member Associations to $700,000

CAF Increases Annual Funding for Member Associations to $700,000

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a 33% increase in annual funding for each of its 54 Member Associations, raising the amount to US$700,000 as part of efforts to strengthen football development across the continent.

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe confirmed the increase, which also includes an adjustment to the annual financial support provided to CAF’s Zonal Unions.

Under the new funding structure, each of CAF’s 54 Member Associations will receive up to US$700,000 annually, representing a significant rise from the previous allocation of US$525,000.

The funding increase is intended to help national football associations improve their operations, invest in football development and build sustainable structures capable of supporting the long-term growth of the game.

CAF Zonal Unions will also benefit from an increase in annual funding, with their allocations rising from US$750,000 to US$900,000. The adjustment represents a 20% increase and is expected to strengthen their capacity to support football activities and development programmes within their respective zones.

The latest announcement marks another major step in CAF’s efforts to increase financial assistance to its Member Associations under the leadership of Dr Motsepe and the CAF Executive Committee.

Since 2021, CAF has progressively increased its annual financial support to national associations. Member Associations initially received US$200,000 annually before the amount was doubled to US$400,000. The allocation was subsequently raised to US$525,000 before the latest increase to US$700,000.

The latest adjustment represents a substantial expansion of CAF’s financial commitment to its members, reflecting the leadership’s stated ambition to make football across Africa world-class and financially self-sustaining.

Through the increased allocations, CAF aims to provide national associations with greater financial capacity to strengthen football administration, improve development programmes and support the growth of the sport at various levels.

The new funding structure reinforces CAF’s commitment to building stronger football institutions across its 54 Member Associations while providing Zonal Unions with additional resources to advance the development of the game throughout the continent.
