Sierra Leone FA conducts match commissioners and general coordinators training for new season

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has conducted a comprehensive training programme for Match Commissioners and General Coordinators ahead of the commencement of the new domestic league season.

The training forms part of the SLFA’s continued efforts to strengthen match-day administration, improve professionalism, ensure compliance with football regulations and enhance the overall organisation of domestic competitions.

Addressing participants, SLFA Vice President 1, Alie Badara Tarawallie, admonished the Match Commissioners and General Coordinators to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism, integrity and impartiality in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He reminded them that they serve as representatives of the Football Federation at match venues and therefore have a critical responsibility to ensure that matches are properly administered and conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations.

Vice President Tarawallie further stressed that the President Babadi Kamara-led SLFA administration will not tolerate match manipulation, misconduct or any form of malpractice that could undermine the integrity and credibility of Sierra Leonean football.

He urged the participants to remain neutral, vigilant and professional, documenting and reporting incidents accurately while ensuring that all stakeholders are treated fairly.

The Match Commissioners’ training session was facilitated by SLFA Vice President 2, Prince Kai Saquee, who also serves as a Chief Commissioner, alongside Madam Emilia Jengo. The session focused on the roles and responsibilities of Match Commissioners, match-day procedures, reporting mechanisms, regulations, disciplinary matters, venue coordination and effective communication with clubs and other match officials.

Meanwhile, the General Coordinators’ session was facilitated by Sorie Ibrahim Sesay and Miriam Yvonne Heroe, both trained and certified General Coordinators. Their presentation covered match-day coordination, operational planning, communication, safety and security protocols, coordination with clubs and officials, and the preparation of accurate post-match reports.

The training also provided an opportunity for participants to review lessons from previous competitions and discuss practical challenges that may arise during the league season, with emphasis placed on finding professional and timely solutions.

The SLFA reiterated its commitment to improving the standards of domestic football administration and ensuring that every league match is organised in a professional, transparent and credible manner.

With the new league season set to commence, Match Commissioners and General Coordinators are expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth match-day operations and upholding the integrity of Sierra Leone’s domestic football competitions.
