Morocco: Al-Dakik Highlights Team Spirit After Algeria Triumph

Moroccan futsal coach Hisham Al-Dakik described his team’s 4-0 win over Algeria on Monday evening in Rabat as an encouraging start to the Africa Cup of Nations.

However, he noted that Morocco could have scored more goals, as the players failed to convert all their scoring opportunities in their Group 1 opener.

In a statement following the match, Al-Dakik explained that the unique nature of the game which was marked by a competitive atmosphere as a Maghreb derby gave it a special character, especially since it served as an opportunity for direct interaction between the players and the Moroccan fans inside the arena.

He also noted his commitment to fielding various national team players, with the aim of enabling them to experience the atmosphere of continental competition and gain the necessary rhythm.

Regarding the course of the match, the national team coach highlighted that the Algerian team adopted a defensive approach to minimize losses, which forced the Moroccan team to seek solutions to break down the defensive block, despite numerous offensive attempts that could have been converted into additional goals.

The coach of the Lions of the Hall stressed that the final score does not necessarily reflect the number of chances the Moroccan team created, noting that the coaching staff will work during the next phase to refine certain details, particularly finishing in front of the goal and capitalizing on opportunities in the areas close to it.

Al-Dakik concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the current goal is to continue on a steady path and secure a spot in the semifinals, before focusing on the demands of the decisive rounds, while stressing the need to regain the vitality and efficiency that characterized the team’s performance in previous matches.
