Uganda Premier League: KCCA extend winning run as BUL drop points

UPL – Tuesday results

Ntungasaze 0-2 KCCA

Lugazi 0-0 BUL

KCCA continued their recovery from a slow start to the 2026/27 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Ntugasaze at Kira Road Police Arena on Tuesday evening.

Herbert Achai and Emmanuel Anyama scored in either half to lift KCCA to fifth place with 10 points, having collected just one point from their opening three matches. Achai opened the scoring in the 37th minute when his free-kick slipped through the hands of Ntugasaze goalkeeper Tonny Atugonza.

Ntugasaze had an opportunity to draw level eight minutes into the second half, but Arafat Kakonge shot straight at KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa after connecting with a cross. Anyama sealed the victory eight minutes from time, running on to Filbert Obenchan’s lofted pass before shooting low across goal to register his second goal of the season.

The result leaves Ntugasaze third from bottom with three points from six matches, having managed just one victory in their maiden top-flight campaign. Elsewhere, BUL dropped their first points of the season after being held to a goalless draw by Lugazi in Najjembe.

But the Jinja side remain top of the standings with 13 points from five matches, while Lugazi occupy 11th place with seven points. Meanwhile, SC Villa and NEC have an opportunity to leapfrog BUL at the top of the table if they win their respective fixtures on Wednesday.

The record 17-time champions Villa make a short trip to Kira Police Arena where 2005 winners Police are lurking. Villa come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at Kataka while Police were beaten 3-0 by Entebbe UPPC in their last outing.

A win for Villa could lift them top of the table on 14 points, ahead of BUL who are on 13 drawing goalless with Lugazi on Tuesday. Police, 9th on the log with 7 points won last season’s corresponding fixture 1-0 after the match officials dubiously ruled out Frank Ssebuufu’s goal.

Zeljko Kovacevic will surely recall his international players David Lukwago, Frank Ssebuufu and Geoffrey Lubangakene who started on the bench in the last game.

In Kamwenge, NEC, on 11 points visit bottom placed Kigezi Home Boyz. Badru Kaddu’s men fired blanks in their last outing at home to Express while Kigezi were beaten 1-0 by Kitara at Hoima.

A win puts the Die Hards who will miss James Jarieko through suspension above early pace setters BUL.
