Zambia Zambian Premier League (ZPL) unveils 2024/2025 league fixtures

The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has unveiled fixtures for the 2024/2025 MTN Super League and the Women’s Super-Division.

Speaking during a media briefing at Football House, ZPL CEO Joseph Chimpampwe said the men’s and women’s league will kick-off on August 17. Chimpapwe said the Charity Shield will be played on August 10 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

“As ZPL, we are excited to unveil the 2024/2025 MTN Super League and the Women’s Super-Division fixtures that were ratified by the board. The two leagues will run concurrently starting on August 17.”

“The Charity Shield which is sponsored by Zambian Breweries will be played on August 10 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium. For the first time, the women will join the Charity Shield. In the men’s category Red Arrows will play Kabwe Warriors while Green Buffaloes Women will play the winner between Nchanga Rangers Queens and Choma Warriors,” Chimpampwe said.

“The Women’s Super Division will have a sponsor starting next season same with the National League for both men and women. Sponsors will be announced when everything is concluded”.

Chimpampwe also announced the introduction of two more cups. “As ZPL, we are also excited to announce the introduction of two more cup competitions. The Champion Champions and the ZPL Challenge Cup. I can also mention that the ZPL Challenge Cup will be the most lucrative cup we shall have. The ZPL Challenge Cup is for all teams in the MTN Super League, National Division One, the Women’s Super-Division, and National Division One. We shall do everything as ZPL to meet the expectations of our members.”

According to the fixtures released: Week One of MTN Super League will see Forest Rangers host AtletiCo Lusaka, Green Eagles host Kabwe Warriors, Indeni face Zanaco, while Mufulira Wanderers host Power Dynamos.

Other fixtures will see Napsa Stars host Zesco United, Nchanga Rangers welcome FC MUZA, Nkana play host to Lumwana Radiant, Nkwazi face Mutondo Stars, with defending Champions Red Arrows facing Green Buffaloes in a military derby.

In the women’s Super Division, Choma Warriors Academy host Red Arrows, Green Buffaloes Women face Green Eagles, Indeni Roses face Police Doves, Kamfinsa Police Blue Eagles will host ZISD while Luyando Foundation will face Nchanga Rangers Queens.

Other fixtures will see The Elite Ladies face Zesco Ndola Girls, Trident Queens face Nkana, YASA play host to Nkwazi Queens, with Zanaco Ladies playing Play it Forward.
