Zambia Super League champions Power Dynamos FC continued their winning momentum with a 2-1 victory over Trident FC in front of a packed Arthur Davies Stadium on Sunday.
In a highly anticipated encounter fuelled by pre-match banter, Aba Yellow delivered on the pitch, securing another important win and finally breaking their hoodoo against the Kalumbila-based side.
Joshua Mutale opened the scoring for Power Dynamos, finishing off a pass from Andy Boyeli to give the home side the lead. Trident FC, however, responded with an equaliser through Sam Sikasote, who headed home from a corner kick to bring the visitors back into the contest.
The match remained fiercely contested, with both sides battling for control. Power Dynamos eventually regained the advantage in the second half when Andy Boyeli found the back of the net for his first goal of the season, with Joshua Mutale turning provider this time.
Head Coach Osward Mutapa made tactical adjustments to maintain the teamโs intensity, introducing Amine Hiver for Ronel Manyanga at half-time. Later changes saw Fabrice Ndeh Nsoh replace Andy Boyeli in the 82nd minute, while Evans Ogbonda, Linos Makwaza Jr and Kafunti Saisada came on in the 88th minute for Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele, Wilson Chisala and Jackson Mulambia, respectively.
Despite Trident FCโs attempts to find another equaliser, Aba Yellow held firm to secure all three points, delighting the home supporters and putting an end to the much-discussed record against Trident. Dynamos will now turn their attention to their next fixture, an away encounter against FC MUZA in Mazabuka on 24 October 2026, as they look to build on this positive result.
