Ayisat Yusuf Signs Two-Year Deal as HJK Helsinki U-16 Women’s Head Coach

Super Falcons assistant coach Ayisat Yusuf has signed a two-year contract to become the head coach of the Under-16 women’s team of Finnish football club HJK Helsinki.

The appointment represents another coaching opportunity for the Nigerian tactician, who currently serves as an assistant coach of the Super Falcons, Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team.

Yusuf’s new role will see her take charge of HJK’s U-16 female side, where she will be responsible for coaching and developing young players as they progress through the club’s youth football system.

Her appointment also provides an opportunity to contribute to the development of women’s football in Finland, particularly in youth training, player development and the preparation of young talents for higher levels of competition.

Ayisat Yusuf Expands Coaching Career in Europe

The two-year agreement with HJK Helsinki marks a new chapter in Yusuf’s coaching career, combining her responsibilities in Nigerian women’s football with an opportunity to work within the Finnish club system.

As a member of the Super Falcons’ technical crew, she has been involved in the coaching structure of one of Africa’s most prominent women’s national teams.

Her appointment at HJK will give her the opportunity to work closely with emerging female footballers, helping them improve their technical abilities, tactical understanding and overall approach to the game.

Youth development remains an important part of the growth of women’s football, with clubs increasingly investing in coaching and structured development programmes to prepare young players for senior-level football.

Yusuf’s experience with the Super Falcons could prove valuable as she takes on the responsibility of guiding HJK’s young female players.

What the Appointment Means for Women’s Football

Yusuf’s move to Finland highlights the opportunities available to African coaches in European football and the growing importance of experienced coaches in the development of young female players.

Her new position will also provide an opportunity to strengthen the exchange of coaching knowledge between African and European women’s football.

HJK Helsinki is a Finnish football club with a youth development structure, and Yusuf’s appointment places her in a position to contribute to the club’s efforts to nurture the next generation of female footballers.

While details of her specific targets under the two-year contract have not been disclosed, the appointment offers a platform for her to build on her coaching experience and further establish herself in women’s football.

Yusuf’s dual involvement with the Super Falcons and HJK’s U-16 female team will also be closely watched, particularly regarding how her responsibilities with the Nigerian national team align with her new club role.

The development represents a significant professional step for the Nigerian coach as she takes on a leadership position in European youth football.
