Blow for Gor Mahia as defender ruled out for at least one week

Gor Mahia defender Portipher Odhiambo is set to be sidelined for at least one week after sustaining an injury in the mid-week fixture against Kakamega Homeboyz in Kakamega.

The development was confirmed by team doctor Brian Odongo during the team’s training session ahead of the next match.

“Portipher will be sidelined for one week following a head injury sustained during Wednesday’s match. Although the severe bleeding was quickly controlled, he required stitches to close a deep cut on his head,” said Dr. Odongo.

The team doctor added that: “He is sitting out the upcoming week to allow the wound to heal completely, while the medical team monitors him closely to ensure he is fully cleared of any concussion symptoms before returning to play.”

Also set to miss action is goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi, who is reported to have suffered a thigh injury during the same match.

“Humphrey Katasi also suffered a thigh injury during the last game. His medical examinations are currently ongoing, and we will provide a formal update on his condition and recovery timeline as soon as the final results are released,” noted the team doctor.

Odhiambo has been impressive since making his debut in the first game of the season, while Katasi has kept two clean sheets in his last two league matches.

The team will be hoping for a swift recovery for both players as they prepare for the matches ahead.
