Three-time CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Chiamaka Nnadozie, will not be in contention for the 2026 edition of the prestigious award after missing out on this year’s nomination list.
The Nigerian international, who won the award consecutively in 2023, 2024 and 2025, had enjoyed an impressive season with English Women’s Super League side Brighton & Hove Albion, delivering several outstanding performances and establishing herself as one of the club’s key players.
However, her absence from the 2026 shortlist comes after a difficult international campaign with Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
Nnadozie was part of the Nigerian squad that endured a disappointing outing at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, where the defending champions suffered a quarter-final exit and subsequently failed to secure qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Despite her impressive club performances, the 25-year-old goalkeeper will have to wait another year for an opportunity to reclaim the continental honour.
Nevertheless, missing out on this year’s nominations does not diminish Nnadozie’s achievements or her standing among Africa’s finest goalkeepers.
Having established herself as one of the continent’s leading shot-stoppers through years of consistent performances, the Super Falcons star will be determined to bounce back, maintain her impressive standards and return to the CAF awards conversation.
For a goalkeeper who has already made history with three consecutive titles, this setback could provide further motivation to reclaim her place at the summit of African women’s football.
