The Malawi Beach Soccer National Team has been placed in Pot 2 alongside Uganda for the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw, scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November 2026, at 16:00 at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The Beach Soccer are among eight nations that have qualified for the continental showpiece to be hosted by Senegal. The other qualified teams are Angola, Ghana, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal and Uganda.
According to CAF, the teams have been seeded based on their performances in the previous three editions of the tournament. Hosts and defending champions Senegal have automatically been placed in Group A as the top-seeded team, while 2024 runners-up Mauritania will lead Group B.
Morocco and Mozambique have been placed in Pot 1, while Malawi and Uganda make up Pot 2. Ghana and Angola complete the lineup in Pot 3. Under the draw procedures, Malawi will be drawn into either Group A or Group B, where they could face Senegal or Mauritania, respectively.
The draw will begin with Pot 3, followed by Pot 2 and Pot 1, with the remaining six teams distributed between the two groups. Each group will comprise four teams, with the top two advancing to the semifinals. The Group A winners will face the Group B runners-up, while the Group B winners will meet the Group A runners-up for places in the final.
Malawi will be making their third consecutive appearance at the Beach Soccer AFCON, having previously participated in the 2022 edition in Mozambique and the 2024 tournament in Egypt. The Beach Soccer Hustlers secured qualification for the 2026 edition after defeating Seychelles 16-3 on aggregate in the qualifiers.
Malawi won the first leg 6-2 away before completing the job with a commanding 10-1 victory in the return fixture at Salima Livingstonia Beach.
The tournament will also serve as a qualification pathway to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with the two finalists earning Africa’s places at the global competition. The draw will determine Malawi’s group opponents as the Beach Soccer Hustlers prepare for another appearance on the continental stage.
