Confederation of African Football (CAF) President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has congratulated Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, following their historic qualification for the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2026.
Motsepe has also confirmed plans to travel to Rabat, Morocco, to watch Nigeria take on Japan in Saturday’s final, November 7, as the West African side chase their first-ever FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup title.
The CAF president’s planned attendance underscores the continental football governing body’s support for the Flamingos as they prepare for one of the biggest matches in the history of Nigerian women’s football.
Nigeria secured their place in the final after an impressive campaign, which has further highlighted the growing strength and competitiveness of African women’s football on the global stage.
The final against Japan presents the Flamingos with an opportunity to create history by becoming the first Nigerian team to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Meanwhile, CAF has called on all 54 member associations to unite in support of Nigeria as the team carries Africa’s hopes into the final.
The continental body’s appeal reflects its determination to rally African football behind the Flamingos as they seek to achieve a landmark victory for the continent.
With Motsepe expected in Rabat and the entire African football family encouraged to stand behind the team, Nigeria will be aiming to turn their historic qualification into a memorable championship triumph.
Victory over Japan would not only deliver Nigeria’s first U-17 Women’s World Cup crown but also mark a significant milestone for African women’s football.
