Jorge Mendes, the agent of Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal, announced on Wednesday that Yamal’s contract with the La Liga team will be extended past 2026.

The 17-year-old Spain international has made 35 appearances for Barca in all competitions this season, scoring 11 goals and dishing out 16 assists.

He was named the 2024 Golden Boy to cap off a year in which he assisted his team in winning the European Championship.

Since his senior debut in April 2023, Yamal, a graduate of the Barcelona academy, has made 86 appearances for the Catalan team.

“Lamine is going to continue at Barca, the important thing now is to think about sporting matters,” Mendes told Spanish media after a meeting with Barca president Joan Laporta in Lisbon.

Later on Wednesday, Barcelona will travel to Portugal to play Benfica in the opening leg of the Champions League round of 16.
