Initially found guilty of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman during a nightclub party in December 2022, Dani Alves was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
However, the Brazilian footballer appealed, and this morning, the Spanish press announced that the former FC Barcelona player has won his case.
The Court of Appeal acquitted Alves after dismissing the appeals from both the public prosecutor—who sought to increase the sentence to nine years—and the private prosecutor, who requested a 12-year sentence. In its ruling, the court cited “a series of gaps, inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and contradictions regarding the facts, the legal assessment, and its consequences.”
