UEFA does not intend to make the Champions League free to watch despite recent reports circulating in Spain. According to several Spanish media outlets, Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez discussed the possibility of creating a new broadcasting model financed mainly through advertising revenue.
The idea would allow supporters across Europe to watch Champions League matches without paying subscription fees and could also help improve relations between UEFA and clubs linked to the Super League project.
However, the proposal is reportedly far from becoming reality. RMC Sport revealed that UEFA has not included such a project in its current plans, especially after securing major long-term television agreements through its broadcasting partners.
In France, Canal+ recently obtained important Champions League rights as part of lucrative multi-year contracts. These deals generate massive income for UEFA and make a transition toward free broadcasting highly unlikely in the near future. For now, the Champions League will remain part of the traditional paid television model.
