2026 FIFA World Cup: Tantashev to referee Morocco vs Scotland

FIFA has appointed Uzbek official Ilgiz Tantashev to referee the Morocco–Scotland clash on Matchday 2 of the 2026 World Cup, announced Tuesday, June 16.

The match will take place on Friday at Gillette Stadium in Boston, in what is already a crucial game for both teams as they vie for qualification.

Tantashev will be assisted by his compatriots Andrey Tsapenko and Timur Gaynulin, while Jordan’s Adham Makhadmeh has been named fourth official. His compatriot Mohammad Alkalaf will serve as the reserve assistant referee.

The Uzbek referee had previously been assigned to the Morocco vs Spain semifinal at the Paris 2024 Olympics, a match he could not complete due to injury.
