However, celebrations were cut short as the midfielder’s strike was similarly ruled out for offside, ensuring the match remained goalless after a frantic opening.
Messi would not be denied for long.

Argentina hayve controlled much of the possession and looked dangerous going forward, while Algeria have shown flashes of attacking intent and remain within touching distance heading into the second half.
