2026 FIFA WORLD CUP: Hakimi hails Morocco’s mentality after hard-fought win over Haiti

Achraf Hakimi has praised Morocco’s resilience after a challenging encounter against Haiti, admitting the Atlas Lions had to dig deep to secure the result.

The Moroccan defender acknowledged a slow start from his side, as Haiti posed early problems and disrupted their rhythm. However, he credited the team’s mentality for sparking a turnaround that ultimately proved decisive.

“It was a tricky and difficult match for us,” Hakimi said after the game. “We didn’t start well, but we used our mentality to turn the game around.”

Morocco gradually grew into the contest, showing composure and determination to wrestle control and assert their quality. The victory marks another important step in their campaign, with the squad continuing to build momentum.

Hakimi also reflected on the team’s overall progress, expressing pride in their journey so far while remaining focused on the challenges ahead. “We are proud of our journey,” he noted, before quickly shifting attention to what lies next.

With tougher tests expected, the Paris Saint-Germain star emphasized the need for continued preparation and improvement. “We will prepare well because the next match will be difficult,” he added.

Morocco now move forward with confidence, but with a clear understanding that sharper starts and sustained intensity will be crucial as the competition enters a more demanding phase.
