FIFA 2026 World Cup: Salah Returns to Egypt Training Ahead of Australia Clash

Egypt have received a major fitness boost ahead of their FIFA World Cup Round of 32 encounter against Australia, with captain Mohamed Salah returning to training as he recovers from a hamstring injury.

The forward took part in sections of Tuesday’s training session after suffering the injury during Egypt’s 1-1 draw against Iran in their final group-stage match.

He was forced off during the game, raising concerns over his availability for Friday’s knockout fixture in Dallas.

Images shared by the Egyptian Football Association on social media showed a smiling Salah back on the pitch with his teammates at their training base in Spokane.

The federation accompanied the photos with the message: “The King is back.”

Salah’s progress is a significant lift for the Egyptian camp as they prepare for their crucial meeting with Australia.

Egypt reached the knockout stage after finishing second in their group on five points, narrowly behind Belgium on goal difference.

The 34-year-old has been one of Egypt’s standout performers at the tournament, contributing one goal and two assists, and his expected return could provide a timely boost as the North Africans chase a place in the Round of 16.
