Orlando Pirates have officially confirmed that an agreement has been reached with Belgian Pro League side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for the transfer of highly rated midfielder Relebohile Mofokeng, bringing clarity to reports earlier carried by Africatopsports.
In a statement released via the club’s official X account, the Buccaneers revealed that negotiations between both parties have been successfully concluded, with the transfer fee and deal structure agreed. However, the move is not yet finalized, as it remains contingent on Mofokeng completing a medical examination and agreeing to personal terms with the Belgian outfit.
The Soweto giants also disclosed that an agreement in principle had been reached prior to the start of the FIFA World Cup. Both clubs mutually agreed to delay any public announcement in order to allow the young star to focus fully on international duty with Bafana Bafana.
Mofokeng was part of a South African side that captured global attention during their impressive World Cup campaign, and Pirates emphasized that shielding the player from transfer speculation was a deliberate decision to ensure the team’s historic run remained undisturbed.
“No further comment will be made at this time until the process between the player and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise has been fully concluded,” the club stated.
The potential move marks a significant step in Mofokeng’s career, with the talented midfielder poised to take his game to European football, pending the successful completion of the final formalities.
