Remarks made by Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) president Abdoulaye Fall about Dr. Abdourahmane Fédior have sparked fresh controversy in Senegal. During a recent press conference, Fall referred to the long-serving Lions doctor as a “gynecologist,” a description that many interpreted as an attempt to undermine his credibility despite his specialization in sports medicine.
The comments have also revived speculation that tensions between the federation and Dr. Fédior date back to his decision to block Noah Fadiga’s selection because of the defender’s heart condition, a move that reportedly angered Noah’s father, former Senegal star Khalilou Fadiga.
Dr. Fédior has now responded publicly to the criticism. “I was outraged by the FSF president’s comments. Everything he said surprised me. Someone who isn’t sure of what they’re saying should do their research,” he said. His reaction has fueled debate across Senegalese football, with many supporters questioning the motives behind Abdoulaye Fall’s remarks and defending the doctor’s long service to the national team.
According to several reports, Khalilou Fadiga later became an adviser to Abdoulaye Fall and allegedly sought to bring members of his entourage into the national team setup, including a doctor who was part of Senegal’s delegation during the World Cup. Dr. Fédior initially remained on the bench before leaving the squad during the tournament. Although these allegations have not been officially confirmed, the timing of his departure and the FSF president’s recent comments have intensified claims that the dispute may stem from the Noah Fadiga case rather than purely sporting considerations.
