Barcelona plan another temporary Camp Nou exit

Barcelona have already mapped out the next stage of the Camp Nou renovation by asking LaLiga for permission to play the entire first half of the 2027-28 season at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc.

The club expects work on the stadium’s new roof to begin in June 2027, and the project could prevent the team from using Camp Nou for several months. Although builders expect to complete the installation by mid-October, Barcelona want to avoid any scheduling uncertainty by planning well in advance.

The proposed move would allow Barcelona to host every home match at Montjuïc during that period, including UEFA competitions. UEFA regulations require clubs to use a single stadium throughout each phase of a European competition, making an early decision essential for the Catalan giants. The club already knows the venue well after spending the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons there while renovation work continued at Camp Nou.

Barcelona also continue to push ahead with the redevelopment project and hope to open part of the third stand during the 2027-28 campaign. The club still needs approval from the local authorities before welcoming supporters into the newly completed section. Until then, Barcelona remain focused on completing one of the biggest stadium renovation projects in European football.
