Mamadou Sangare’s departure from RC Lens appears increasingly imminent, with the Malian midfielder left out of the club’s two friendly matches on Tuesday as advanced talks over a move to Brentford continue.
His absence is inevitably fueling speculation about his future. According to available reports, Brentford is reportedly ready to invest nearly 48 million euros to secure the Malian international’s services, while Crystal Palace could still try to outbid them.
When asked about his absence, Lens coach Dino Toppmoller cited a precautionary measure: “He was supposed to play. But during warm-ups, he felt a slight twinge. So we didn’t take any chances. We still have plenty of options in midfield.”
With such a major transfer in the works, Lens does not want to take any risks with its player, who could become the biggest sale in the club’s history.
