Before the European contracts, before the Uganda Cranes captaincy, before the goals on international stages, there was a young Farouk Miya.
A technically gifted midfielder with extraordinary vision, composure beyond his age and an ability to change games. At Vipers, he quickly announced himself.
The youngster became one of the faces of a new era at the club — an era built around youth development, ambition and challenging Uganda’s traditional football hierarchy.
His performances helped establish him as one of the most exciting young footballers in the country.
Soon, Uganda and the world started paying attention.
A Journey Beyond Borders
Miya’s rise was rapid. From Vipers, he earned his move abroad, beginning an international adventure that saw him test himself in some of football’s most competitive environments.
His journey included spells in; Belgium, Croatia, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia among other elite European destinations.
Along the way, he experienced European club football, international competitions and the pressure that comes with representing Uganda at the highest level. But wherever football took him, his connection to home remained.

Few Ugandan players of his generation have carried the national team responsibility that Miya has.
He became one of the youngest players to captain Uganda Cranes, leading the national team during a significant period of transition.
His name became synonymous with commitment to the national badge. For years, supporters looked towards Miya for moments of creativity, leadership and inspiration.

For Vipers SC Head Coach Denis Lavagne, the signing represents the addition of a player whose quality and mentality can make a difference.
