The second round of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers featured several hard-fought contests, spectacular scorelines, and notable results. Egypt recorded the biggest win of the day by thrashing South Sudan 5–0, while Guinea-Bissau put in an impressive performance against Nigeria, securing a 3–0 victory.
Gambia also stood out with a 4–2 away win over Ghana. Morocco maintained their strong form with a 2–0 victory against Lesotho, while Senegal did just enough to beat Ethiopia (1–0). Ivory Coast defeated Somalia 2–0, and Mali beat Liberia 1–0. Gabon also claimed three points against Niger (2–0), as did Uganda against Libya (1–0), Benin against Mauritania (2–1), and Comoros against Namibia (1–0).
Elsewhere, Zambia beat Togo 2–0 in a match interrupted by a power outage lasting around 20 minutes. However, several teams shared the points: Congo and Cameroon (1–1), Madagascar and Tanzania (1–1), and Burundi and Algeria (2–2)—the latter following a comeback by Les Fennecs, who had conceded two early goals. Finally, Rwanda pulled off a surprise by winning 2–1 away at Cape Verde.
