Aladji Bamba has completed his move from AS Monaco to Newcastle for a fee exceeding €40 million. The Magpies secured the 20-year-old midfielder in a deal worth €36 million plus €5 million in bonuses. Aladji Bamba travelled to England, completed his medical and signed a five-year contract at St. James’ Park, where he will wear the number eight shirt.
Newcastle announced Aladji Bamba as their fourth summer signing after Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Touré and Sean Steur. The English club praised his qualities, his experience with France’s under-20 team and his nomination for the European Golden Boy award. The young midfielder impressed last season at Monaco, where he played 25 matches across all competitions and recorded two assists, including five appearances in the Champions League.
Monaco completed their first major sale of the summer with Aladji Bamba’s departure as the club looks to balance its finances after missing out on Champions League football. The midfielder joined the Principality side from Blois in 2021 and earned a key role under Sébastien Pocognoli thanks to his performances. Monaco could now sell more players, with Folarin Balogun and Maghnes Akliouche among the names attracting interest.
