AMUSAN STORMS TO RABAT DIAMOND LEAGUE TITLE, BREAKS MEETING RECORD

AMUSAN STORMS TO RABAT DIAMOND LEAGUE TITLE, BREAKS MEETING RECORD

Nigerian sprint hurdler and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, delivered another outstanding performance on the global athletics stage, winning the women’s 100m hurdles at the Rabat Diamond League meeting in Morocco.

Amusan raced to victory in a time of 12.28 seconds, equalling her season’s best and setting a new meeting record in the process.

The Nigerian star produced a dominant display from start to finish, comfortably beating a strong field of international competitors to secure her first Diamond League win of the 2026 season.

The 29-year-old finished ahead of Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, who crossed the line in 12.40 seconds, while Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser placed third with a time of 12.47 seconds.

Amusan’s winning mark erased the previous meeting record of 12.45 seconds, which she had also set at the Rabat event last year.

The victory represents a significant milestone in Amusan’s 2026 campaign after opening her Diamond League season with podium finishes in Shanghai and Xiamen.

Her latest triumph underlines her growing momentum as she prepares for major international championships later in the year.

Amusan remains the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles with the historic 12.12 seconds she set at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States.

Her performance in Rabat further confirms her status as one of the world’s leading sprint hurdlers and a strong contender for more titles this season.

The Nigerian athletics queen will now shift her attention to the next Wanda Diamond League meeting in Rome, where she will be aiming to continue her impressive run of form and strengthen her bid for another successful season on the international circuit.
