Aston Villa Complete £47m Signing of Senegal Starlet Ibrahim Mbaye

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint Germain in a deal worth €55 million (£47 million).

The 18 year old arrives at Villa Park after an impressive breakthrough campaign in France, where he made 31 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Mbaye was part of the PSG squad that successfully defended both their Ligue 1 and Champions League titles, gaining valuable experience at the highest level despite his young age.

His reputation grew further during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he featured in all four of Senegal’s matches. He scored in the Teranga Lions’ 3 1 defeat by France, becoming the youngest African player to score at a men’s World Cup.

Mbaye joined PSG from FC Versailles 78 in 2018 and progressed through the club’s academy before making his senior debut in August 2024 at just 16.

His move to Aston Villa represents another major step in his rapidly developing career. He becomes the latest attacking arrival at Unai Emery’s side, following Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi and Nicolas Jackson.

Villa will be hoping Mbaye’s pace, creativity and attacking ability can strengthen their forward options as they compete on multiple fronts.

The transfer also underlines the club’s confidence in the Senegalese youngster’s potential, with the Premier League side investing heavily in a player who could become a key figure for both Villa and Senegal in the years ahead.
