Barcelona: Alejandro Baldé frustrated by lack of game time

Alejandro Baldé finds himself in a difficult situation at Barcelona, with the left-back yet to make an appearance this season. According to Sport, the Catalan club could consider selling the 22-year-old during the winter transfer window in a bid to raise at least €40 million.

Liverpool have shown interest, while Manchester United and Inter also made enquiries during the summer. Baldé now faces strong competition from João Cancelo and young defender Xavi Espart.

Hansi Flick addressed Baldé’s situation during his press conference on Tuesday and acknowledged the player’s frustration. “Baldé needs to give his best, and that is what he is doing. He is frustrated not to be playing, not getting game time. He used to be a key player, so it is natural for him to be disappointed,” the Barcelona coach explained. Flick also admitted that Espart’s emergence has changed the situation, with the 19-year-old performing above expectations.

The German coach nevertheless praised Baldé for handling the difficult circumstances professionally. “Things change; new players arrive—young ones—and dynamics within the team shift. You have to manage all of that. He is handling it well. I am very happy with him,” Flick added. With several players competing for places, Baldé must now fight to regain his position or consider his future at Barcelona in the coming months.
