Black Queens Set Up Zambia Showdown in Bid for Historic LA 2028 Olympic Qualification

Ghana’s Black Queens have advanced to the third round of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifiers after recording a commanding 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius to set up a crucial encounter with Zambia’s Copper Queens.

The Black Queens delivered an impressive performance across the two legs against Mauritius, demonstrating their attacking strength and defensive solidity as they continue their quest to secure a maiden appearance at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

Standing in Ghana’s way are the Copper Queens, who booked their place in the third round with a 5-3 aggregate victory over Uganda. Zambia’s attacking threat and experience on the international stage make them formidable opponents for the Ghanaian side.

The two-legged third-round fixtures are scheduled to take place between February 23 and March 6, 2027, with both teams expected to battle fiercely for a place in the next phase of the qualifying campaign.

With confidence boosted by their emphatic victory over Mauritius, the Black Queens will be determined to maintain their momentum against Zambia as they pursue a historic Olympic qualification. A successful campaign would mark a significant milestone for Ghanaian women’s football, giving the team an opportunity to represent the nation on the Olympic stage for the first time.
