LA 2028 Olympic Qualification: Black Queens Name Strong Starting XI for Mauritius Clash

Ghana’s Black Queens have named a strong starting lineup for their second-leg encounter against Mauritius as they seek to secure qualification for the third round of the CAF Women’s Olympic Football Tournament qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The Black Queens head into the encounter with a commanding 3-0 aggregate advantage following their victory in the first leg at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex in Mauritius last Thursday.

Captain Portia Boakye leads the starting XI, with Cynthia F. Konlan taking her place in goal for the crucial encounter.

Boakye will marshal the defence alongside Susan Ama Duah and Josephine Bonsu, while Jennifer Cudjoe, Grace Asantewaa and Evelyn Badu are expected to play key roles in midfield as Ghana look to control proceedings.

In attack, Princella Adubea and Ajegipina Zakaria lead the forward line, supported by Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah and Sharon Sampson as the hosts aim to maintain their attacking threat.

The coaching staff has also named a strong bench, with first-leg goalscorers Abi Kim, Alice Kusi and Benedicte Simon available to provide additional firepower if required. Mukarama Abdulai is also among the substitutes.

Other players named on the bench are Diana Amoako, Rabiatu Maltiti, Margaret Agyapomaa, Comfort Yeboah, Stella Nyamekye, Afi Amenyeku, Nancy Amoh and Rose Teye Baah.

Victory or a draw would comfortably secure Ghana’s place in the next round.

Ghana will face the winner of the Uganda-Zambia tie in the third qualifying round if they successfully negotiate the Mauritius challenge.
