Black Stars midfielder Kwasi Sibo has revealed that Ghana’s players deliberately chose not to dwell on a contentious penalty incident during their FIFA World Cup clash against England, insisting the team’s priority was securing a positive result.
Speaking after the tournament, Sibo explained that the squad remained focused on achieving at least a draw against one of the competition’s favourites rather than allowing themselves to be distracted by officiating decisions.
“We didn’t protest because we were focused on the draw. Coming up against England, the focus was to pick up a draw or a win. If we had a 100% mentality to win, we would have all protested for a penalty,” Sibo said.
His comments suggest the Black Stars adopted a disciplined and pragmatic approach throughout the encounter, choosing to concentrate on their performance instead of engaging in prolonged appeals to the referee.
