CAFCC: El-Kanemi Warriors Reach Second Preliminary Round, Face Raja Casablanca

El-Kanemi Warriors have booked their place in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup despite suffering a 1-0 defeat to UDIB of Guinea-Bissau in the second leg.

The Borno Army progressed 3-1 on aggregate, having established a commanding advantage with a 3-0 victory in the first leg in Ikenne last weekend.

UDIB secured a consolation victory in the return fixture, but the Nigerian side’s first-leg performance proved decisive as El-Kanemi Warriors advanced to the next stage of the competition.

The result keeps El-Kanemi’s continental campaign alive and sets up a much tougher challenge against Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca.

El-Kanemi Warriors to Face Raja Casablanca

El-Kanemi Warriors will now take on Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the second preliminary round, with a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage at stake.

The Nigerian club will host the first leg in Ikenne before travelling to Morocco for the decisive second leg.

The Borno Army will need another strong home performance to put themselves in a favourable position before the return leg in Casablanca.

Raja Casablanca, one of Africa’s most decorated clubs, will provide a significant test for El-Kanemi, but the Nigerian side can draw confidence from their impressive 3-0 first-leg victory over UDIB.

For El-Kanemi Warriors, qualification against Raja would secure a place in the CAF Confederation Cup group stage and further enhance their reputation on the continental scene.
