Ghana Football Association Executive Council member Nana Oduro Sarfo believes Medeama SC still have a chance to overturn their first leg defeat to TP Mazembe and advance in the CAF Champions League.
Medeama suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to the Congolese giants in the first leg, leaving the Ghanaian champions with a difficult task in the return fixture.
Despite the setback, Oduro Sarfo remains optimistic about Medeama’s prospects, urging the players to draw motivation from Mazembe’s performance and produce a similar upset away from home.
“It is not over for Medeama. I think they can go there and make a statement,” Oduro Sarfo said.
“They should motivate themselves, go there and cause an upset just like what Mazembe has done in the first leg.”
The GFA official also pointed to Medeama’s recruitment ahead of the campaign as a reason for his confidence in their ability to compete at the highest level.
“With the recruitment Medeama has done, I think they can go and make a statement,” he added.
Medeama will need to overturn the one-goal deficit in the return leg to keep their CAF Champions League campaign alive.
