CAFCL: TP Mazembe Reject Medeama’s Flight Plans, Opt for Road Trip to Tarkwa

Congolese giants TP Mazembe have rejected Medeama SC’s proposed flight arrangements for their upcoming CAF Champions League first qualifying round tie and will instead travel by road from Accra to Tarkwa.

Mazembe arrived in Ghana on Thursday before making the journey to Tarkwa ahead of their first leg clash against Medeama at the TnA Stadium on Sunday, September 6.

Medeama had proposed flight arrangements to Takoradi to facilitate the visitors’ trip to the Western Region, but the five time African champions have opted for a road journey from Accra.

The decision means Mazembe will make the trip from Ghana’s capital to Tarkwa by road as they step up preparations for the crucial continental encounter.

The first leg is expected to attract significant attention, with both sides seeking an advantage before the return fixture in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Medeama will be looking to make home advantage count at the TnA Stadium, while Mazembe will aim to secure a positive result on Ghanaian soil before the decisive second leg.

The clash represents an important early test for both clubs as they begin their campaigns in Africa’s premier club competition, with progression to the next stage firmly in their sights.
