The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the return of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars, following an agreement reached with the Portuguese tactician for a new coaching mandate.
Queiroz’s previous spell in charge, which included leading Ghana at the just-concluded FIFA World Cup, officially ended a few weeks ago. However, discussions between the GFA, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and the coach have resulted in an agreement for him to continue in the role.
According to the GFA, the new mandate will begin with the upcoming international window as the Black Stars enter the next phase of their programme.
The association cited Queiroz’s extensive international experience, technical expertise and familiarity with the Black Stars as key factors behind the decision to retain him.
The Portuguese coach will now turn his attention to rebuilding and guiding Ghana through the next chapter of its international football programme, with further details on his mandate and the team’s upcoming schedule expected to be announced in due course.
The decision marks a continuation of Queiroz’s relationship with the Black Stars after his initial mandate came to an end following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
