The football world is mourning the death of CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel, who passed away at the age of 30 after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest during a match against FC Andorra. Despite emergency treatment and hospital care, the forward could not survive his injuries.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday, November 2, during the closing stages of the Spanish second-division fixture. Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono rushed out of his penalty area to challenge for a long ball and collided violently with De Miguel. The impact left the Tenerife forward unconscious on the pitch, prompting players from both teams to call urgently for medical assistance. Emergency teams performed resuscitation before taking him to hospital by ambulance. The referee sent Owono off and abandoned the match as medical staff attended to the injured player.
Although De Miguel initially recovered following the emergency treatment, his neurological condition deteriorated overnight. CD Tenerife announced his death on Tuesday, November 3, at 8:00 a.m., in a statement expressing profound sorrow and offering condolences to his family, loved ones and supporters.
The club also thanked everyone who had sent messages of support and asked the public to respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time. The tragedy has cast a shadow over Spanish football, with clubs and supporters mourning the loss of the 30-year-old striker.
