Chelsea Delegation, Victor Moses Visit Elegushi Palace in Lagos

A delegation from English Premier League side Chelsea F.C. paid a courtesy visit to the palace of Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi in Lagos, Nigeria, in a move that further highlights the growing relationship between international football institutions and traditional leadership in the country.

The delegation included former Nigerian international and ex-Chelsea winger Victor Moses, who was warmly received alongside other representatives of the London club at the Elegushi Royal Palace.

During the visit, discussions reportedly centred on football development, youth empowerment and strengthening ties between global football brands and local communities in Nigeria.

The visit also underscored Chelsea’s enduring connection with Nigerian football fans, who remain among the club’s largest supporter bases in Africa.

Victor Moses, who enjoyed a successful spell at Chelsea, remains a celebrated figure among Nigerian football enthusiasts.

The former Super Eagles star played a key role in Chelsea’s Premier League triumph under Antonio Conte during the 2016/2017 season and also helped the club win the FA Cup and UEFA Europa League.

Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi welcomed the delegation and praised the positive impact football continues to have on young people across the country.

The monarch emphasized the importance of collaboration between sports organisations and local institutions in promoting talent development and creating opportunities for Nigerian youths.

The visit attracted attention from football followers and residents in Lagos, with many describing it as another strong symbol of the close relationship between Nigeria and one of the world’s most popular football clubs.

Chelsea continue to enjoy massive support in Nigeria, with several Nigerian players having represented the club over the years, including Victor Moses, John Obi Mikel and Celestine Babayaro.
