Assistant coach Desmond Offei will take charge of the Ghana national football team during Friday’s international friendly against Mexico national football team in Puebla after head coach Carlos Queiroz was ruled out due to personal reasons.
Offei has overseen the Black Stars’ training sessions and preparations since the team arrived in Mexico and is now set to lead the side from the dugout as Ghana continue preparations toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The former Ghana U-20 trainer is expected to play a key role in guiding the team through an important test against the Mexicans, with the technical bench using the encounter to evaluate player performances and tactical adjustments ahead of the world cup and to also know those that will make it into the final squad to be presented by head coach Carlo Queiroz. .
Offei will be assisted by goalkeepers’ coach Daniel Gaspar and set-piece coach/video analyst Gregory De Grauwe as the Black Stars aim to continue building momentum and cohesion within the squad.
