Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has admitted that the Black Stars’ defeat to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium was difficult to watch, but remains confident the team will qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Adams acknowledged the disappointment surrounding the result, revealing how difficult it was to witness the national team suffer defeat on home soil.
“I must admit that nobody would want to be in my position when the Black Stars played against The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium,” he said.
“It was difficult to watch the team lose. I could not believe what happened, but I am convinced the team will qualify for the AFCON tournament,” he added.
The minister’s comments come amid expectations for the Black Stars to deliver improved performances and secure qualification for the continental showpiece. Ghana will need to turn its attention to the remaining fixtures and produce the results required to keep its AFCON ambitions on track.
