Newly promoted Doma United continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a 2-0 victory over former champions Enyimba on Saturday.
The Savannah Tigers scored in both halves through Sadiq Rilwan and Yusuf Fantami to secure their second consecutive home win and maintain a perfect record after three matches.
Doma United came into the encounter on the back of an impressive away victory in Lagos last weekend, while Enyimba were looking to recover from their opening-day defeat to Niger Tornadoes.
However, Deji Ayeni’s side produced another disciplined performance in Gombe, taking control of the game and eventually securing all three points.
Rilwan opened the scoring shortly after the half-hour mark, continuing his excellent run in front of goal.
The forward has now scored three goals in three matches this season.
Doma United held on to their advantage until half-time before Fantami doubled their lead with 20 minutes remaining to put the game beyond Enyimba.
The 2-0 win takes Doma United to nine points from a possible nine, keeping their 100 per cent start to the 2026/27 NPFL campaign intact.
The Savannah Tigers will now look to maintain their strong form and avoid a repeat of the 2023/24 season, when they suffered a dramatic decline after finishing the first half of the campaign at the top of the NPFL table.
