Ebrima Singhateh Scores as Bournemouth Fight Back to Beat Sparta Praha in Europa League

Gambian forward Ebrima Singhateh was on target for AC Sparta Praha, but his first-half effort proved insufficient as the Czech side suffered a 3-1 defeat to English Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth in Round 4 of the UEFA Europa League league phase on Thursday.

Playing in front of their home supporters in Prague, Sparta Praha took the lead in the 35th minute through the 23-year-old attacker. Singhateh showed excellent positioning and composure to convert a well-placed assist from goalkeeper Jakub Surovčík, putting the hosts 1-0 ahead.

The goal gave Sparta Praha a deserved advantage heading into the break, despite Bournemouth enjoying greater possession of the ball. Singhateh’s contribution once again highlighted his attacking threat and ability to make an impact on the European stage.

However, Bournemouth produced a strong second-half response to turn the contest around. Tyler Adams restored parity in the 57th minute before Brazilian forward Evanilson completed the comeback with a goal in the 81st minute.

Rayan then put the result beyond doubt, scoring in the 90th minute to seal a convincing 3-1 victory for the English side.

Despite the defeat, Singhateh can take encouragement from his goal against Premier League opposition as Sparta Praha turn their attention to their remaining fixtures in the Europa League.
