Edo Queens have been handed a challenging group-stage assignment in the 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League, with the Nigerian champions set to face opposition from Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Niger Republic.
The Nigeria Women Football League champions were drawn into Group B, where they will battle ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire, Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa and AS Garde Nationale of Niger Republic.
The draw presents a demanding test for Moses Aduku’s side, who will be aiming to build on their strong record in the regional competition.
Edo Queens will be making their second appearance in the WAFU B Women’s Champions League.
They announced themselves on the regional stage in 2024 by winning the competition on their debut, a triumph that earned them qualification for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
Their historic continental campaign later that year ended with a fourth-place finish at the CAF Women’s Champions League, giving the Benin-based side valuable experience against some of Africa’s leading women’s clubs.
The Nigerian champions will now have to navigate another competitive regional campaign if they are to return to the continent’s premier women’s club competition.
In Group A, hosts USFA of Burkina Faso will take on Dynamique FC of Benin Republic and ASKO of Togo.
The 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League is scheduled to take place in Burkina Faso from August 23 to September 5, 2026.
Beyond the regional title, the tournament carries significant importance as the qualifying competition for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The teams will therefore be battling not only for WAFU B supremacy but also for the opportunity to represent the sub-region on the continental stage.
For Edo Queens, the target will be to repeat their impressive 2024 regional success and secure another opportunity
