Eintracht Frankfurt Snap Up Danish Wonderkid Malik Pimpong

German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have secured the signing of highly rated Danish teenager Malik Pimpong, adding one of Scandinavia’s brightest attacking prospects to their ranks as they continue their reputation for developing elite young forwards.

The 18-year-old, born on January 1, 2008 to former Ghana Black stars player Razak Pimpong, joins Frankfurt after an outstanding spell in the youth setup at Danish club Midtjylland, where his prolific goalscoring exploits marked him out as one of Europe’s emerging talents.

Although Pimpong is yet to make his senior debut, he has enjoyed a remarkable rise since breaking into Midtjylland’s U19 side during the 2024/25 season. He scored six goals in 15 appearances in his debut campaign, including a strike in the UEFA Youth League, before exploding in 2025/26 with an impressive return of 24 goals in 30 matches across all competitions.

The Denmark youth international has also impressed on the international stage, registering 12 goals in 24 appearances across various youth levels for his country.

Primarily deployed as a left winger, Pimpong possesses the attributes of a modern attacker. Standing just over 6-foot-3, he combines pace, technical quality and strong hold-up play, drawing comparisons with former Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké, whose development at the Bundesliga club earned him a move to Liverpool.

Frankfurt sporting director Timmo Hardung stressed that the club will take a measured approach to the teenager’s development.

“Malik Pimpong, as a young player, possesses a great deal of talent and potential. It is now important that he can calmly adjust to Eintracht Frankfurt, our structures, and the new environment. We want to carefully introduce him to the level of play, specifically promote his development, and at the same time provide him with stability,” Hardung said.

Pimpong’s promise has long been recognised by those who worked with him at Midtjylland. Academy manager Flemming Broe praised the youngster’s all-round qualities when speaking about him in 2024.

“Malik is a great talent who has a good athletic package. He is technically skilled and can score goals. At the same time, he has a good winning mentality, and we are convinced there is something exciting hidden in him,” Broe said.

With Frankfurt renowned for nurturing young attacking talent into top-level performers, expectations will be high that Pimpong can follow a similar path and eventually make his mark in the Bundesliga.
