Nigeria’s Falconets have arrived in Katowice as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, which kicks off on Saturday.
The Nigerian U-20 women’s team left their training camp in Trzebnica on Thursday and moved into the Novotel Katowice Centrum, where they will complete their final preparations before beginning their campaign.
The Falconets spent 10 days in Trzebnica, with head coach Moses Aduku and his technical crew using the period to fine-tune the team’s tactical approach, technical execution, fitness levels and overall understanding.
The training camp also gave the players an opportunity to adjust to the Polish weather and environment while building the match sharpness required for the global tournament.
Nigeria rounded off its preparations with two international friendly matches against Poland and the Korea Republic.
The Falconets secured a 1-0 victory over hosts Poland last Friday, with Mary Mamudu scoring the only goal of the encounter in the first half.
Mamudu was again on target in the team’s final warm-up game against the Korea Republic on Tuesday, as Nigeria played out a 1-1 draw.
The two friendlies allowed Aduku and his coaching staff to evaluate the squad against different styles of opposition while giving the players valuable experience ahead of the intensity of the World Cup.
With the Trzebnica training phase now complete, the Falconets will shift their full attention to their opening Group F fixture against Spain on Monday.
Nigeria will face Spain before taking on China PR on September 10, while their final group-stage match will be against New Caledonia on September 13.
The Falconets will be hoping their positive pre-tournament results provide the confidence needed to make a strong start to their World Cup campaign.
