Spain produced a record-breaking performance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026, defeating debutants New Caledonia 11-0 at Arena Sosnowiec on Thursday to book their place in the knockout stages for a fifth consecutive tournament.
Pau Comendador opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Marisa Garcia doubled Spain’s advantage seven minutes later.
Celia Segura then struck in the 33rd minute as Spain took a commanding lead into the break.
Segura continued her remarkable display after halftime, completing her four-goal haul with goals in the 46th, 53rd and 65th minutes, including a penalty.
Comendador added her second in the 49th minute, while Alba Cerrato also got on the scoresheet in the 43rd minute.
Carla Julia and Rosalia Dominguez completed the emphatic victory with late goals in the 89th and 90+4th minutes respectively.
Segura was named the Visa Player of the Match after her outstanding four-goal performance.
The result represents the biggest victory of the Poland 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup so far, surpassing Argentina’s 8-0 win over Benin.
Spain’s 11-0 triumph also equals the biggest winning margin in the history of the competition, matching France’s 11-0 victory over Fiji in 2024.
The encounter is likewise among the highest-scoring matches ever recorded at the global tournament, with Spain underlining their status as one of the teams to watch in the knockout rounds.
With four goals against New Caledonia, Segura has also moved joint-top of the adidas Golden Boot standings.
