The French Football Federation has decided to withdraw its support for Gianni Infantino ahead of the FIFA presidential election in March 2027.
According to L’Équipe, Infantino’s failed plan to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investment funds became the final issue for the FFF and several other European federations. Philippe Diallo formalized the decision during the FFF executive committee meeting on Thursday.
France now joins around ten European countries, including England and Italy, that have moved away from Infantino, with more federations expected to follow. The FFF also stands with UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin, who wants to challenge the FIFA president’s position. The next FIFA presidential election will take place in March 2027 at a congress in Rabat, Morocco.
