Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Vice-President Fred Pappoe has been appointed chairman of a five-member committee tasked with identifying and recommending Ghana’s next Black Stars head coach.
The committee was constituted following a meeting between the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation on Friday as authorities begin the process of finding a successor for the vacant position.
Pappoe will be joined by former Black Stars captain Anthony Baffoe, former captain Stephen Appiah, Faisal Chibsah and Agbesi Dzakpasu, Esq.
According to Sports and Recreation Minister Hon. Kofi Adams, the committee has been mandated to assess potential candidates and submit its recommendation by Friday, October 9, 2026.
“As promised, I will keep you updated on the steps we are taking to rebuild confidence in our football,” Adams said.
“The committee will assess and recommend the next Black Stars coach, with its report due by Friday, 9 October 2026.”
The formation of the committee comes at a significant moment for the Black Stars following the recent departure of Carlos Queiroz, who parted ways with the Ghana national team after a short spell in charge.
The committee’s recommendation will now be closely watched as Ghana seeks to appoint a new coach and begin preparations for the next phase of the Black Stars project.
Adams added: “Your love for Ghana football drives this work. Together, we can rebuild a team that makes us proud.”
