The President of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, presided over the opening of a five-day GFF/FIFA Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches’ Workshop on Monday.
The theme of the workshop was “Supporting youth goalkeeper coaching to build a bright future for tomorrow’s superstars,” and it took place at the National Technical Training Centre (NTTC) in Old Yundum.
In his opening remarks, President Bajo described the workshop as a significant achievement for Gambian football. He expressed gratitude for FIFA’s approval of the program and emphasized the importance of capacity building and human resources development. He highlighted the CARMS, which stands for the training of Coaches, Administrators, Referees, Medics, and Security, initiative as a crucial decision made by his executive.
The Lead Course Instructor, Alejandro Alfredo Heredia, thanked the GFF for organizing the workshop and encouraged participants to focus and make the most of the opportunity.
Other speakers, including Technical Director Mr. Sang John Ndong and Deputy Technical Director Mr. Ebrima Nyassi, praised President Bajo’s leadership and vision. They urged participants to be proactive and apply the knowledge gained to benefit their clubs, communities, and the country as a whole.
The opening ceremony was also attended by the President of the Gambia Football Coaches Association (GFCA), Mr. Kebba Touray, and Assistant Course Instructor Cameron Euston Cox from South Africa.
