Former Ghana international Godwin Attram has been appointed as an assistant coach of the Black Stars, becoming the latest addition to Carlos Queiroz’s technical team.
Attram takes over the position previously occupied by Desmond Ofei, who will now focus fully on his responsibilities as head coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s U23 national team.
The change forms part of adjustments to Ghana’s national team technical structure, with the Ghana Football Association seeking to strengthen the various national teams while ensuring that coaches with key responsibilities are able to concentrate fully on their respective assignments.
Attram brings considerable experience from his playing career, having represented Ghana at international level before moving into coaching. The former striker has also gained coaching experience over the years, including working with young players and developing footballers at different levels.
His arrival is expected to add another layer of experience to Queiroz’s backroom staff. Attram will work alongside the Portuguese head coach and the rest of the technical team as the Black Stars prepare for their upcoming international commitments.
Ofei, meanwhile, will continue his work with the Black Meteors after previously serving as part of the senior national team setup. His reassignment allows him to devote his attention to developing Ghana’s U23 side and preparing the team for its upcoming competitions.
The reshuffle comes as the Black Stars continue to build under Queiroz, with changes also being made in other areas of the team’s backroom structure. The Ghana FA has also brought former captain and all-time leading goalscorer Asamoah Gyan into the setup as Clubs and Player Relations Manager.
Gyan’s role is expected to focus on strengthening relations between the national team, players and their respective clubs, while Attram’s appointment adds further coaching experience to the technical department.
The latest appointments underline Ghana’s efforts to establish a broader support structure around the Black Stars as the team enters another important phase of its international programme.
