Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan has expressed admiration for the Black Stars’ newly unveiled away kit, describing its striking gold colour as a powerful reflection of national identity and heritage.
Speaking on the design, the former captain admitted a sense of envy that he never had the opportunity to don such a symbolic strip during his playing days. Gyan, who famously led Ghana national football team through some of their most memorable international moments, noted that his era was defined by the traditional white and red kits.
“I always said I’m jealous I didn’t wear the gold colour when I was playing,” Gyan said. “We wore white and red. But this gold represents who we are. That gold colour is very, very strong. It represents our culture.”
The introduction of the gold away kit signals a shift toward a more culturally expressive identity for the Black Stars, aligning with Ghana’s rich history as a leading gold-producing nation. The colour has long been associated with pride, resilience, and prestige, qualities the team hopes to embody on the pitch.
Gyan’s endorsement adds weight to the positive reception surrounding the new design, as fans and former players alike embrace a look that merges football with national symbolism.
